MỞ RỘNG LÒNG TỪ - Registering for a Potential Bone Marrow Donor!

My name is Loan T. Tran, born 11-30-1972. I have been working as a Social Worker since 1996 helping the low income families locate community resources for basic needs such as rent, utilities, low income or free medical and dental clinics. Since 2003 I work as Social Services Coordinator at Oklahoma Health Care Authority until I got admitted to hospital. I also saved money to donate to temple and the poor in USA and especially in Vietnam. On 03-11-15 I went to ER at Mercy Hospital in OKC, attending hemotologist/oncologist Dr. Jess Armor told me MD Anderson pathologists confirmed I have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B Cells, 95% in body, but not in the brain yet. I had first round of Hyper CVAD, but body didn't respond well. Recent bone marrow biopsy shows I still have 70% leukemia in body. Started on first round of Methotrexate and Cytarabine since yesterday and will end this round of chemo on Friday night. I'm very hopeful that this round of chemo will clear all leukemia in my body. So I get to go home for a few days before being readmitted for 2nd round of Hyper CVAD. There are 4 rounds of Hyper CVAD and 4 rounds of a Methotrexate and Cytarabine. I'm inpatient for each round of chemo, expect to end chemo and be in remission by October to resume my job.

I have a loving and caring husband and 2 children. My daughter Sandra is a Freshman at University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She graduated Salute Dictorian from Edmond Santa Fe High School. She comes home weekend to take care of me while in hospital. My son Rick is 16 years old and an Honor Sophomore at Edmond Santa Fe High School. He takes care of me after school until my husband comes to stay overnight with me. I'm blessed to have great support from my family, relatives, friends, coworkers and medical staff.  I have 2 biological brothers, tested but Dr. Armor said results show my brothers are not marching. I have a strong desire to live longer to take care of my children and to continue my job to help others. I want to raise my kids to be helpful individuals to society. My name is not yet registered on the national transplant list because I have leukemia. But Dr. Armor said MD Anderson had a patient who didn't respond to first round of chemo but responded to second round of chemo. So I'm very hopeful that my body will respond to second round of chemo. I'm a fighter and I'll win this battle to be in remission. But in order for me to live longer I must have stem cell transplant. As soon as I have zero % leukemia I'm ready for stem cell transplant. Please please come to your local blood institute to register as donor. They provide a mouth swab kit. Make sure you tell them to fax your results with my name Loan Tran born 11-30-1972 to OU Cancer Center fax 405-271-4776

or visit website www.bethematch.org

to request a mouth swab kit and register to be a donor. My name should be on that national list soon. I thank you for any help you can provide to me. I sincerely appreciate your assistance and kindness.

Another Case That Needs Bone Marrow Donor and Support - An Oanh Vu at GDPT Kim Quang.

Hi! My name is Allayah Phan and I am 9 years old. I was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia in March of 2014. My immune system has attacked my bone marrow and I no longer can produce enough blood cells on my own. I have gone through two rounds of ATG treatment to see if it will reverse my immune system, but so far no luck. My final option is a bone marrow transplant and at this time we have only found an 83% match in the whole world which means it's a higher risk for rejection. Rejection can cause damages to my internal organs and negative, long term effects to the external parts of my body. Please help me find a better match by signing up and testing to be on the bone marrow registry.  If you are unable to commit to being a donor, please help support our family with a donation during this rough time.

I currently attend Matsuyama Elementary School in Sacramento, CA and am in the 4th grade. I am a very bright and lovable young girl. I enjoy reading chapter books and watching movies with my family. My hobbies are decorating and designing things with arts and crafts. I have a dog named Boo that I love to play with. My favorite colors are blue and purple and my favorite type of candy is chocolate! I love to eat fish or pasta, but not usually together. I enjoy dancing on my free time and would like to be in a jazz and hip hop dance class.  I melt everyone’s heart that I meet, and my smile can brighten up any room.
