This Vesak, Remembering The Most Venerable Thich-Quang-Duc’s Self-immolation

Fifty years from the summer of 1963
Remembering our homeland
Still, there are social injustices
Still existed: Hatred, corruption, and ignorance

1963 - a historic year
The Venerable Thich Quang Duc self-immolated
The torch of Compassion was lit
Spreading all over the world

For every Vesak season
We must remember the teaching of the Buddha Shakyamuni
We must carry our own torch
For Self-revelation and liberation

Before the three poisons (greed, hatred, and ignorance)
Before the society of selfishness and materials
Whatever we take
Think about the impermanence and separation

Knowing all things have no self
Living life with compassion and altruism
So in every single moment
Embrace and practice the Buddha's teachings.

Sacramento, Buddhist calendar 2557
